Saxophone professor

Vicente Contador is a versatile saxophonist linked very closely to new performances and movements of contemporary music. Works regularly with composers who have dedicated many works to him with more than thirty first performances in recent years (Pérez Ribes, Gordillo, Santiago, De la Peña, Jacinto, Sprintz, Asmus, Yeznikian, Soliè, Navarro, Terrón, Fontán, De la Rubia, Muñoz Samano, Díaz Jerez,…).

Has obtained the title of superior professor of saxophone in Conservatory of Music Badajoz (Spain) with honors receiving the End of Grade Honor Award (1996), Chamber Music Honor Award (1997) and End of Degree Honor Award (1998). Then he went on to study a Doctorate at the University of Extremadura which concluded in 2012 with the defense of his doctoral qualified “graduating with honors” for his research into the saxophone. Has teamed up with some of the most outstanding saxophonists of our time (Jean-Marie Londeix, Daniel Kientzy, Marie Bernadette Charrier, Claude Delangle, Arno Bornkamp, Aurelia Sax Kwartet, Quatuor de Saxophones Diastema,…)
collaborates assiduously with numerous musicians and groups of international prestige such as Sleswig-Holstein Symphonic Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra of Castilla y León, Orchestra of Extremadura, Ensemble XX-XXI, Cuarteto Saxioma, Saxtrem Saxophone Quartet, Iberian Big Band, and The Extremadura Film Orchestra, Ensemble Teatro del Arte Sonoro, etc.  He has been awarded numerous times in national and international competitions and has participated in a many recordings.  He regularly teaches courses and lectures, and since the year 2000 he has been a Professor of  Saxophone at  the Conservatory of Music Badajoz and is the artistic director of the Ensemble of Saxophones CSMB. In this center he has developement for years an outstanding pedagogical work as a trainer of many young and talented saxophonists. Since 2020 is ambassador and artists Selmer-París.
