Biography

Sara Almazán, Singer and pianist, she obtained her piano and singing degrees at the Conservatory of Music of Zaragoza, completing her music formation in Austria by following university studies of “Lied and Oratory” together with “Music Pedagogy applied to singing “. She studied Opera and got a degree in “Dramatic and Music Performance” at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz and Vienna. She has been awarded numerous distinctions and special prizes in different subjects throughout her career. She was given scholarships by the Zaragoza Council, the Foreign Affairs and Education department. Singers and vocal pedagogues Pilar Andrés, Gottfried Hornik , Helena Lazarska, Ana Luisa Chova and specially Eva Bártfai ought to be mentioned owing to the role they have played in her formation. She has studied stage performance with Christian Pöppelreiter and vocal repertoire with Donald Books, Jacky Konya, Gerhard Zeller and Wolfgang Schmidt, amongst others.

As soloist, Sara Almazán has performed in Slovenia (Maribor, Ptuj y Ljubljana) in Austria (in concert halls such as “Stephaniensaal” in Graz, “Brucknerhaus” in Linz,  “Altes Rathaus” “Konzerthaus” and “Radiokulturhaus” in Vienna,  and “Festpielhaus” in St.Pölten), at the

“Ruhrfestspielen Recklinghausen” International Festival in Germany, in  Yakarta- “Dhamawangsa Ballrom” (Indonesia), Namibia –Africa (Swakopmund and “Windhoek National Theatre”), in Morocco (Rabat and Casablanca), at the “Crafthall” of the Moscow philharmonic society (Russia) and in Spain (concert halls and theatres throughout Aragon, the “Thyssen Museum” in Madrid,  the Zaragoza Music Auditorium, the Murcia Music Auditorium and theatres in  Jumilla, Ceutí, Lorca, Yecla). She has sung with the “Komorni Orkester Maribor”, with the “Orchester der Wiener Bachsolisten”, with the “ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien”, with the “Niederösterreichiches Tonkünstler- orchester”, with the  Zaragoza Auditorium Orchestra and with the Murcia Symphonic Orchestra, amongst others.

She has teamed up with various ensembles aimed at the dissemination of baroque Music such as “Vokalna Skupina Canticum”, “Ensemble Novantiqua Austria” and “La Tempestad” and with other ensembles which put a focus on contemporary music such as  “Artresonanz”, “Cantus Ensemble für Neue Musik”, “Enigma” and “Modern Ensemble”. She has premièred works by the Austrian composers Alfred Polanski, Roland Neuwirth and and by the Spanish composers Carlos Cruz de Castro, Carlos Perales, Voro García, Edgar Barroso and Carlos Satué. Recordings for the Spanish Television, for the Austrian Radio, for the labels Klangdebüts, Punteiro and for the  ORF (Austria) lie within her professional experience. Recently she has also taken part in the recording of the CD “Voces de Ébano” with the group “Modern Ensemble”.

In the years 2006 to 2019, she has taught teaching vocal repertoire for pianists and conductors at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón. Since 2019, she is Proffesor of Voice at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid.
