Biography

Lorenzo Lucca currently holds the position of 1. Konzertmeister of the Hofer Symphoniker in Bavaria and, at the same time, he is teaching at the Hochschule für Musik „Franz Liszt“ in Weimar“ (Germany).

Born in Assisi, Lucca studied the violin with M° Vadim Brodsky and Prof. Paola Besutti (graduated from the Conservatory of Music G.B.Martini in Bologna at the age of 18) and he continued in 2005 his studies in Germany with Prof. Dr. Friedemann Eichhorn.

He simultaneously studied conducting with M° Thomas Briccetti and piano with M° Gian Claudio Mantovani.

In 2007 he won the audition for the position of concertmaster in the Hof Symphony Orchestra.

In 2008 he was visiting professor at the German School of music in Kangnam University, Yongin-Seoul (South-Korea).

Since 2010 he is a violin coach at the Internationale Junge

Orchesterakademie (IJOA) and from 2019 an orchestra coach of the Meersburger Sommerakademie

Since 2015 he is a professor of violin at the University for Music Franz Liszt in Weimar.

Apart from his activities as Concertmaster and as a violin teacher, he has performed as soloist with several orchestras (Jenaer Philharmonie, Vaasa City Orchestra,  Hofer Symphoniker , North Czech Philharmonic Teplice,  Marienbader Philharmonie, Heilbronner Sinfonie Orchester,  Philarmonisches Orchester Gera-Altenburg ) and enjoyed many chamber music collaborations (live recording for the Bayerischer Rundfunk and the Serb Radio Station), with special emphasis on contemporary music .

He recorded Fernando Sulpizi´s Opera Omnia for violin: two CDs with violin accompanied by orchestra or piano have already been released.

A CD with the solo literature for violin of Max Baumann is in preparation.

He also reconstructed the solo part of two of the violin concerts from the High Baroque German composer J.P.Schiffelholz. The result of this work, in cooperation with the musicologist Klaus Beckmann,  was recently published by Ortus-Verlag.
