Biography

Jorge Martínez Campos was born in Valencia in December 1994. He began his musical studies at the age of 7 with Bernhard Huber. After that, he completed his Bachelor degree at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música in Madrid with Luis A. da Fonseca, Roberto Terrón and Ernst Weissteiner at the Kunstuniversität Graz (Austria). Later, he graduated Cum Laude as a Master of Music degree at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf (Germany) with the prestigious professor Rick Stotijn, standing out as a student of his promotion.

On the other hand, Jorge has received lessons from acclaimed international double bassists such as Wies de Boevé, Ödön Rácz, Dane Roberts, Stanislaw Pasierski, Iris Ahrens, Slawomir Grenda, Vlado Žatko, Olivier Thiery, Enrico Fagone or Joel Quarrington.

As a performer, he has been member of numerous youth orchestras like the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (GMJO) and the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), and he has collaborated with professional orchestras such as the Orquesta y Coro de Radiotelevisión Española (ORTVE), Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad Madrid (ORCAM), Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) and Recreation- Grosses Orchester Graz; playing under the baton of illustrious conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle (as principal double bass), Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Harding, Vasily Petrenko, Lorenzo Viotti or Marc Minkowski, among others.

From 2018 to 2022 he was co-principal double bass of the Sinfónica del Gran Teatro del Liceo in Barcelona, and at the same time, from 2020 to 2022 he has been professor of double bass and chamber music at the Fundació Conservatori Liceu (Barcelona).

He is currently double bass member of the Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España (OCNE).
