Born in 1985 in Daimiel (Ciudad Real, Spain), Manuel Blanco began learning the trumpet at a very early age at the Conservatorio de Ciudad Real with Martin Baeza de Rubio, later continuing under the tuition of professor José Orti at the Conservatorio Superior de Valencia from which he graduated with the highest honours in 2006.

Currently he also receives musical advice from international soloist Reinhold Friedrich, who shares with Manuel’s previous professors a special focus upon both professional and personal preparation. He began his career winning several Spanish and international music awards, such as Moixent, Calviá and Jeju (South-Korea), but he achieved international recognition upon winning the first prize in the prestigious ARD Music Competition in Munich 2011 (with the best history´s score), a prize only awarded to two trumpeters before Manuel Blanco, of which the first was Maurice Andre in 1963. He has worked with first-class orchestras, as a principal trumpet such as the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Gewandhaus (Leipzig), Orchestra Mozart (Bologna), Philarmonique de Radio France, Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, European Youth Orchestra, Berlin Staatsoper, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, Orchestra Teatro alla Scala Milán and the Orquesta Nacional de España (trumpet solo since 2004).

Among others, he has performed with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Mariss Jansons, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Lorin Maazel, Daniel Barenboim, Juanjo Mena, Andris Nelsons, Zubin Mehta, Gustavo Dudamel, Kent Nagano, Semyon Bychkov, Josep Pons, David Afkham, Andrés Salado, Markus Bosch, Charles Olivieri-Munroe, Pablo Heras-Casado…. As a soloist, he has played with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Munich Radio Orchestra, Budapest Chamber Orchestra, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Jeju Philharmonic Orchestra, London Concert Symphony Orchestra, Spanish National Orchestra, Hofer Symphoniker, Niederrheinische Sinfoniker, Navarre Symphony Orchestra, RTVE Symphony Orchestra, Philarmonisches Orchester Würzburg, Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock, Orquesta Santa Cecilia, North Czech Philharmonic in a tour of Asia (Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Brunei), Opus 23 Orchestra (first appearance in the prestigious concert series of Ibermúsica).…

Manuel Blanco’s interest in chamber music has resulted in him leading the Mediterranean Chamber Brass Quintet, winners of the first prize at the International Wind Ensemble Festival in Jeju (South Korea) and the International Brass Quintet Competition in the Lieska Brass Week (Finland), and which has performed worldwide.

Future projects include soloist engagements with Orquesta Municipal de Valencia, Orquesta Sinfónica de Bilbao, two premieres commissioned by the CNDM for him, Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería (México), many recitals, masterclasses and his first CD as a soloist with the Spanish National Orchestra playing well-known trumpet concertos.
