Winner of the Gyenes and Sarasate prizes, among others.

He studied between Spain and EEUU. He was a student of the famous pedagogue Dorothy Delay.

He has a great concert activity, especially involved with Spanish music from the XIX to our time.

A great number of the most important Spanish composers have written for this violinist.

Among his recordings, the comprehensive Piano Trios of Beethoven for Via Digital stand out. Furthermore, he has a great number of recordings for the Spanish National Radio, RTVE, SedeM, Autor, Hungaraton, and as a soloist, for the labels RTVE and Stradivarius.

He has recorded for the label SedeM, the work for violin and piano of Joaquín Turina, Joaquín Nín, Jesús de Monasterio, P. de Sarasate, with the pianist María Jesús García. Recently, the label Autor has edited a double CD with 21 works for solo violin of current Spanish composers, being Manuel Guillén the performer and the receiver of the dedication of each of them.

Manuel Guillén is considered a great driving force, connoisseur and expert of the Spanish music for violin.

In line with his activity as a performer he carries out an intense pedagogic activity, holding one of the Violin Chairs in the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid and teaching regularly in courses and magister classes in various Spanish and foreign localities.

Nowadays he is the artistic director of the International Courses of Málaga.
