Roberto Manjavacas

Saxophone professor


Born in Mota del Cuervo (Cuenca), he graduated as a saxophonist in the C.P.M de Campo de Criptana, with Professor Francisco Javier Alberca Pintor and later in the C.P.M de Alcalá de Henares with Professor Vicente Toldos. He obtained in 2014 the Degree in Saxophone, at the Conservatory of Castilla y León (Salamanca), achieving outstanding qualifications and a Mention of Honor, under the tutelage of Andrés Gomis Mora. Parallel to his training as a saxophonist he graduated from the University of Alcalá de Henares as "Master in Music Education".

He expanded his studies obtaining in 2015 the "Master in Music Performance" at the Alfonso X el Sabio University in Madrid, under the supervision of Andrés Gomis. In his recital, Master's degree ends the work of Alberto Arroyo Interior State. Currently, he is deepening his musical research as a PhD student at that university, with Andrés Gomis and Alicia Díaz as tutors.

During his career he has received advice from prestigious classical and contemporary saxophone masters, including Jean Marie Londeix, Arno Bornkamp and Marie Bernardet Charrier. He participated actively in August 2016 at the "Internationale Ferienkurse Für Neue Musik" in Darmstadt, Germany where he received the advice of contemporary music personalities such as saxophonist Marcus Weiss, clarinetist Ernesto Molinari and composer Georges Aperghis.

Professionally he has collaborated as soloist with the Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid in Theater of the Zarzuela, National Auditorium of Music and Cycle of Concerts "Veranos de la Villa" in the Greater Place of Madrid. He has also collaborated with the ensemble Sigma Project at the premiere of the opera 0.997 by Alberto Bernal and Alex Serrano framed in the Sinergias festival in the Canal Theaters in Madrid under the production of Opera de Hoy. He belongs to the quartet of young saxophonists Egaré, committed to the current music for saxophone, with which he performs a multitude of concerts throughout the peninsular geography.

Simultaneously to his activity as an interpreter he works as a teacher in the Music Schools of Quintanar de la Orden (Toledo), Pedro Muñoz (Ciudad Real), Tomelloso (Ciudad Real) and as a teacher in the Professional Music Conservatory of Mota del Cuervo (Cuenca).
