Jean Philippe Dury was born in Paris in 1978 where he started his dance studies at the age of six years. At eleven, he joins Opera de Paris Ballet School and eight years later he joins the Company as Corp de Ballet, dancing many productions like Swan Lake, Raymonda, Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty etc. He Works also with contemporary choreographers like Lionel Hoche, Jean-Claude Gallota, Laura Scozzi, Maurice Béjart, Pina Baush, Mats Ek, William Forsythe and Jirí Kylián.

In 1998, he obtains the first artistic and contemporary prize in St. Petersburg Competition and in 2001, the first prize in Florencia Competition and Grand Prix of the Republic of Italy.

In 2003/04 season, L’Opera de Paris gives him a sabbatical year and he joins Les Ballets de Monte Carlo. He returns as Coryphée. He has also made choreographies like Fado (1999), Vidalita (2001), Háblame (2003) and Les Jardins du Silenc: LÒpera de Paris Amphitheatre in Danseurs-Choreographers season.

He joins CND in September 2007; he leaves CND in 2008 and comes back in September 2009.

In 2012, he decides to increase his qualities as choreographer opening his own Company: ELEPHANT IN THE BLACK BOX COMPANY.

Winner of the best choreography with his piece Cel Black Days Festival Talent Madrid.

Nominated to Taglioni Awards 2014 – Best Stand-out Choreographer.
